Nestlé Business Services (NBS), the shared services arm of the Nestlé Group, has announced the establishment of its first Global Capability Centre in India in Hyderabad. According to the company's official release, this marks an important step in strengthening Nestlé's global business services network and building future-ready capabilities to provide broader services across geographies. The centre is scheduled to open this year and represents a significant expansion of Nestlé's global operations in the Indian market. As per recent reports, this facility is positioned among Nestlé's largest such centres globally, highlighting the strategic importance of the Indian market for the Swiss packaged foods maker.
The NBS Hyderabad facility will be established under Nestlé Business Services India Pvt Ltd in partnership with Genpact, an agentic and advanced technology solutions company. As reported by Business Standard, Genpact will bring its process intelligence and expertise in data, AI and automation to help Nestlé simplify, standardise and scale business services. Luca Fichera, Head of NBS, emphasized that this partnership reflects confidence in India's talent and capabilities, with Hyderabad selected for its strong technology ecosystem, robust infrastructure and growing reputation as one of India's leading global capability destinations. The move marks an important step in strengthening Nestlé's global business services network and building future-ready capabilities to provide broader services across geographies.
According to the company release, the centre will bring together domain expertise, process intelligence, data, AI, automation and digital operations capabilities to improve performance, resilience and consistency across global operations. Tarun Chopra, Genpact's Global CPG Business Leader, noted that this partnership reflects how leading global enterprises are reimagining business services as technology-enabled, data-driven operations. The facility is designed to drive consistency, agility and measurable business impact while reinforcing India's role as an important talent and capability base for Nestlé globally. As we build stronger capabilities in a market like India, our people, partners and vendors will remain central to this journey, emphasized Luca Fichera, Head of NBS.
This strategic move aligns with the burgeoning GCC sector in India, poised to become a significant catalyst for job creation and investment. Nestlé India joins a string of major consumer companies including McDonald's, L'Oréal and Carlsberg setting up GCCs in India, betting on the country's growth potential at a time when global markets are seeing saturation. As reported by Nestlé India chairman and managing director Manish Tiwary at the company's 67th AGM, despite uneven demand patterns through last year due to steep food and fuel inflation, India's long-term potential stays resilient. The company is committed to long-term resilience and focusing on rural and semi-urban areas, terming these markets "the next wave of long-term consumption." This strategic move is particularly significant given that in the first half of 2026, India's office market saw unprecedented growth with 45.5 million square feet leased, with multinational firms contributing 43% of total leasing as they enhance their Global Capability Centres. According to NASSCOM's GCC India overview, India now hosts over 1,700 GCCs employing more than 1.9 million professionals, with nearly 60% of all global GCC activity concentrated in India.
Nestlé India has demonstrated strong financial performance with revenues increasing 22.6% year-on-year to ₹6,748 crore for the January-March 2026 quarter, and domestic sales of ₹23,071.5 crore in FY 26, driven by double-digit volume growth and market share gains. The company has invested about ₹2,000 crore in capital expenditure over the last two years, reflecting its commitment to expanding operations and strengthening its market position. This robust financial performance underscores the strategic importance of the Hyderabad GCC in supporting Nestlé's continued growth trajectory in the Indian market, even as the company faces inflation challenges that pose operational difficulties.
