National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) and Idco jointly conducted an investor roadshow in Kolkata to showcase investment opportunities at the Angul Aluminium Park. According to the latest reports, the roadshow was attended by Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy, highlighting the government's continued support for the project. The presentation focused on the park's strategic positioning as a hub for downstream aluminium industries and its potential to address India's import dependency in high-finish aluminium products.
National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) has announced plans to supply 50,000 tonnes of molten aluminium annually to industries at the Angul Aluminium Park at a discounted rate. As per the latest reports, this arrangement is designed to reduce the need for solidification, transportation and reheating of aluminium, lowering production costs for downstream manufacturers and improving the economics of setting up units at the park. The facility offers downstream manufacturers access to molten metal from Nalco's smelter, along with industrial infrastructure and utilities.
Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy highlighted the park's potential to address India's significant import dependency in high-finish aluminium products. According to the latest reports, India currently imports nearly $4 billion worth of high-finish aluminium products, even with substantial domestic capacity. The minister emphasized that aluminium would have a central role in India's drive towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, with the park designed to bridge this gap through enhanced production, greater value addition, and a strong downstream ecosystem.
The Angul Aluminium Park, jointly developed by Nalco and Idco, spans 223 acres at Tulasipal in Angul district and has been developed with an estimated infrastructure investment of more than ₹100 crore. As per the latest reports, the park is equipped with industrial plots, internal road networks, continuous power and water supply, administrative facilities, testing laboratories and specialised training centres. The Odisha government has approved a budgetary provision of ₹428.95 crore for the park's development in 2022 and has decided to expand the facility by acquiring an additional 300 acres of land.
The park is expected to provide opportunities for industries involved in converting aluminium into finished and semi-finished products for sectors such as transportation, engineering, electrical equipment, construction and other manufacturing applications. According to the latest reports, Angul Aluminium Park Private Limited (AAPPL) is positioned to offer manufacturers an opportunity to locate closer to the source of raw material while accessing industrial infrastructure and utilities in a dedicated cluster. IDCO's Managing Director D. Prasanth Kumar Reddy stated that the park's molten metal corridor and ready availability of land, water and energy give it an edge, and that it is poised for significant expansion, with a focus on downstream industries and MSMEs.
