Robinhood shares climbed more than 2% following the official launch of the Trump Accounts savings program, even as the broader crypto market turned lower. The brokerage, which serves as an official partner alongside BNY Mellon, saw its stock trade near $114 following the announcement, extending its five-day advance to more than 13% according to Yahoo Finance data. The move stood out against weakness across digital assets, with Bitcoin slipping below $62,000 during the same session. The White House officially launched the program on Monday with a ceremony attended by President Trump, who rang opening bells at both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange.
President Trump has hinted that Bitcoin could eventually be added to Trump Accounts, the new tax-advantaged accounts for children, during an event tied to the program's rollout. When asked directly whether the program could include the asset, Trump replied "Something could happen." This comment immediately fueled fresh speculation about crypto's role in government-backed savings, with the president explaining his crypto support by stating "I've become a big crypto guy only for one reason: if we don't have it China is going to have it." Trump also noted he watched the industry grow into a major market and added that heavy capital inflows convinced him Bitcoin has plenty of life left. The president's enthusiasm is not disinterested, as his latest financial disclosure reported more than $1 billion in 2025 income from family crypto ventures.
Trump Accounts launched on July 4 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, with children born between 2025 and 2028 receiving a one-time $1,000 Treasury seed deposit. Families can contribute up to $5,000 per year until the beneficiary turns 18. The Treasury tapped Robinhood and BNY Mellon to run the program's app and account infrastructure, with the program now live on Robinhood's platform. The Treasury has approved just four other index ETFs, and fund-switching is not yet live. The deeper obstacle lies in the statute itself, as Congress limited qualifying investments to US equity index funds charging under 0.1% in fees, with the law letting the Treasury tighten those rules, not expand them.
Micron Technologies has announced a $250 million investment in the Trump Accounts programme, a long-term savings initiative for children, while simultaneously securing a significant automotive supply agreement. The company announced a long-term supply agreement with General Motors for automotive memory and storage platforms for future vehicle production, focusing on securing semiconductors for next generation vehicles as computing and data requirements in cars continue to rise. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra announced the Trump Accounts initiative on June 30, 2026, stating that the company is launching an employee matching benefit for contributions up to $1,000 per child under 18, alongside providing a community benefit of a one-time $250 seed deposit for children with Trump Accounts where the company operates. Mehrotra emphasized that "At Micron, we believe investing in people is as important as investing in technology," and described the investment as "the largest of its kind by any company" as America celebrates its 250th anniversary.
The Trump Accounts programme has now been expanded to include five Central New York counties: Onondaga, Oswego, Oneida, Madison and Cayuga counties, where Micron is investing due to its growing presence in the region. As reported by Business Standard, a Trump account can be opened for any American child under 18 with a Social Security number, with the accounts available starting July 4. The accounts will be available starting July 4, with individuals, employers and others able to deposit money into the accounts, which grow tax-free, similar to individual retirement accounts. Micron expects to reach up to one million children with its investment, with most funding benefiting children and families in communities where the company operates across Idaho, New York, Virginia, California, Colorado, Minnesota and Texas. The company has confirmed that additional information on eligibility for its community seed funding program will be made available to residents of qualifying counties where Micron operates.
The Trump Accounts launch arrives as Wall Street analysts continue to grow more optimistic about Robinhood's long-term outlook despite the stock's recent rally. As previously reported by crypto.news, Piper Sandler reaffirmed its Buy rating on Robinhood and maintained a $135 price target, indicating the firm believes additional upside remains. BTIG also reiterated its Buy rating while keeping a $125 target price. Meanwhile, Mizuho increased its price target to $130 from $115 while maintaining a Buy rating, making it one of the latest brokerages to lift expectations for the online trading platform. The optimism comes as the program provides a federally funded $1,000 starting contribution for eligible children, with the launch coinciding with celebrations surrounding the 250th anniversary of the United States.
