The Medi Caps Board of Directors approved significant leadership changes on August 6, 2026, consolidating control within the founding family during a period of operational improvement. Akshit Garg has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Saloni Garg as Whole Time Woman Director, with both roles taking effect from August 7, 2026. The Board also approved the re-appointment of Chairman cum Managing Director Alok K. Garg for a three-year term effective September 1, 2026. These appointments require shareholder approval at the 43rd Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 22, 2026, as disclosed pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
According to the latest unaudited financial results approved by the Board on August 6, 2026, Medi Caps reported a consolidated net loss of ₹223.29 lakh for Q1FY27, representing a significant improvement from the ₹349.19 lakh loss recorded in Q1FY26. The company's consolidated revenue from operations rose 3.7% year-on-year to ₹278.69 lakh, driven by stable performance in the Pharma Division. Total expenses declined by 22.2% to ₹507.12 lakh, primarily due to lower freight costs and reduced other operational expenditures. Despite the revenue growth, the company incurred a net loss due to high fixed costs relative to sales volume.
The company's operating profit margin (OPM) turned negative at -67.28% in Q1FY27, a significant deterioration from the -125.75% OPM recorded in the same quarter last year. However, the sharp decline in 'Other Income' from ₹33.49 lakh in Q1FY26 to ₹5.14 lakh in Q1FY27 underscores that previous periods benefited from non-recurring gains, whereas current performance reflects core operational challenges. The profit before tax (PBT) also improved by 36% to ₹223.29 lakh in the current quarter, compared to ₹349.19 lakh in Q1FY26. The PBDT (Profit Before Depreciation and Tax) also showed improvement, rising to ₹178.69 lakh from ₹306.06 lakh in the previous year's corresponding quarter.
The Pharma Division, the primary revenue generator, contributed ₹268.20 lakh in segment revenue but posted a segment loss of ₹164.33 lakh before tax and interest. This contrasts with the Real Estate Division, which generated minimal revenue of ₹10.49 lakh but incurred a smaller segment loss of ₹58.96 lakh. The divergence highlights the company's heavy reliance on its pharmaceutical operations, which currently operate below break-even point despite cost-cutting measures. The reduction in net loss indicates that management's focus on controlling operational expenses is yielding initial results, even as revenue growth remains modest.
