FMCG giant Marico Limited today announced the launch of Parachute Advansed Protein Shampoo, marking the brand's entry into India's shampoo industry and deepening its presence in the hair care segment. According to an exchange filing on Tuesday, the new product range leverages a differentiated proposition of preventing protein loss in hair, strategically entering the high-potential damage repair segment. The company aims to build a meaningful presence in the segment and expects the shampoo portfolio to be a key contributor to Parachute Advansed's overall growth. As per Marico, this launch marks the company's most significant category extension in recent years, translating Parachute Advansed's strong coconut equity into a hair-cleansing format to address the growing consumer shift towards nature-forward solutions. With this strategic move, Marico is eyeing a slice of the ₹10,000+ crore shampoo market, which is growing at 9-10% annually, as the company targets its ₹20,000 crore revenue ambition by FY30.
The shampoo range features eight variants across multiple pack sizes, including 80ml, 170ml, 340ml, 650ml, 1L and 1.2L quantities. As reported by Marico, the products are available across general trade, modern trade and e-commerce websites. The company has introduced a sachet version priced at ₹1 aimed to enable widespread trials and accelerated scale-up. The range combines popular hair care ingredients such as rosemary, amla, shikakai, almond, and others, with the lead variant featuring coconut milk with aloe vera. According to Vikram Karwal, Chief Marketing Officer – India, Marico Limited, the launch is backed by a robust, multi format marketing plan spanning television, digital, creator led collaborations and regional platforms. The products focus on preventing protein loss in hair and include formulations based on coconut milk and natural ingredients such as aloe vera, rosemary, amla, shikakai, and almond for hair fall control, shine, and damage repair.
According to Marico, the launch reflects the company's commitment to purposeful, coconut-led innovation and strengthens its play in one of India's largest and fastest-growing personal care segments. Ashish Goupal, CEO, India Core Business, Marico Limited, noted that the shampoo range forms a key pillar of the company's strategy to capture a greater share of the Indian consumer's total hair-care spend. The ₹10,000+ crore shampoo market is growing at 9–10% annually, presenting significant growth opportunities for the brand. The entry into shampoos forms a key pillar of Marico's strategy to tap into a category that reaches millions of households annually and opens a significant growth opportunity in a segment where premiumisation is accelerating rapidly year-on-year. With this strategic expansion, Marico is positioning itself to compete against multinational FMCG giants and legacy domestic brands, primarily led by Hindustan Unilever and Procter & Gamble, in the hair cleansing segment.
Known for popular hair oil products such as Parachute & Parachute Advansed, Marico says the shampoo range forms a key pillar of its strategy to capture a greater share of the Indian consumer's total hair-care spend. The company emphasizes that with its strong brand salience and deep penetration, Parachute Advansed is uniquely positioned to offer a credible and effective solution in a new format. The brand already reaches millions of households and has always enjoyed a deep, authentic relationship with consumers, cutting across geographies and income groups. The initial response from consumers and the market has been encouraging, with CEO Ashish Goupal stating that "extending Parachute Advansed into shampoos is a strategic step to address the growing consumer shift towards nature-forward solutions." According to Marico, the shampoo business is expected to become a key growth driver for the Parachute Advansed portfolio as the company looks to increase its share in the overall hair-care market, with the product developed around growing consumer preference for nature-backed personal care solutions tailored for Indian hair needs.
