Integrated diagnostic network Mahajan Imaging & Labs announced a joint venture with Chennai-based Neuberg Diagnostics on Monday to expand integrated diagnostics across North India. According to reports from Mint, the partnership will focus on pathology, radiology, genomics, metabolomics and wellness testing services. Under the agreement, Mahajan Imaging will serve as Neuberg's exclusive partner across seven northern states and Union territories: the National Capital Region (NCR), Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
The joint venture combines Mahajan Imaging's radiology and nuclear medicine network across the NCR and Jaipur with Neuberg's network of more than 200 accredited laboratories and digital infrastructure. As reported by Mint, Mahajan Imaging will take over Neuberg's existing laboratory operations in Noida, Lucknow and Jammu. The companies will invest in laboratory infrastructure, sample collection networks, and logistics, including tech-driven sample transit and drone-enabled delivery mechanisms to connect remote collection centres with central reference hubs. Kabir Mahajan will serve as Chief Executive Officer for the Joint Venture operations, leading the organisation's operations and growth agenda.
The collaboration brings together Mahajan Imaging's decades of experience in radiology, nuclear medicine, PET CT and advanced diagnostics with Neuberg's pathology and genomics capabilities. According to Outlook Business, the partnership will further expand existing pathology and genomics services by enhancing the range of testing across genomics, metabolomics, proteomics and molecular pathology. The joint venture plans to establish specialized Centres of Excellence (CoE) and dedicated longevity centres across the NCR, focusing on early disease interception, healthy ageing and preventative wellness. The partnership will roll out comprehensive multi-omics diagnostic panels and personalized predictive profiling, termed a 'Health Atlas', which integrates individual genomic, proteomic, metabolomic and radiological data to map baseline physiological health and identify sub-clinical anomalies before symptoms manifest. As per XHealth, the venture reflects India's diagnostics sector entering a new phase where organised players increasingly move beyond routine pathology towards genomics, specialised testing and integrated healthcare services.
Rating agency ICRA projects organized diagnostic chains in the country to clock 12-14% revenue growth in 2026-27, driven by preventive health screenings, deeper non-metro penetration, and rising clinical demand for precision testing. According to The Economic Times, the growth is attributed to increasing demand for proteomics and molecular pathology services. The partnership aims to capitalize on this expanding market opportunity through comprehensive diagnostic capabilities across the northern region, with the collaboration focusing on making diagnostics more accessible and affordable while working towards greater integration across pathology, imaging, nuclear medicine and genomics. The joint venture's immediate priorities include strengthening pathology and genomics capabilities, improving sample collection and logistics, integrating digital systems and reducing turnaround times.
Dr GSK Velu, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Neuberg Diagnostics, emphasized that Mahajan Imaging & Labs is a clinical institution with a legacy spanning over 35 years and a leading position in North India. He stated that the partnership will complement Neuberg's foundation with its pathology, genomics and wellness capabilities, IT and digital infrastructure. Dr Harsh Mahajan, Founder and Chairman of Mahajan Imaging & Labs, highlighted that the association allows acceleration of existing pathology and genomics capabilities by bringing additional scale, infrastructure and expertise. According to PTI, Mahajan explained that the partnership was designed to scale up pathology without losing quality, specifically citing Neuberg's expertise in pathology as the key factor in the decision. Kabir Mahajan, who will lead the joint venture, said the immediate priority is execution strengthening pathology and genomics capabilities, improving collection and sample logistics, integrating digital systems and reducing turnaround times across the network. He also flagged the role of technology and AI in supporting quality control, workflow management and reporting, noting that success will not simply be adding centres but delivering consistent experience and reliable reporting as the network grows. The transaction was supported by leading professional advisors, with Kornerstone Advisors serving as overall transaction advisor to the founders, EY as exclusive Investment Banking advisor to Mahajan Imaging & Labs, and Khaitan & Co. and Deloitte providing legal and financial due diligence services respectively.
