
As many as 1.51 crore shares or 8.75% equity of Kfin Technologies Ltd. worth ₹1,400 crore changed hands at ₹925 apiece in a block deal on Thursday, August 20. According to The Economic Times and exchange data, General Atlantic Singapore Fund Pte Ltd, a promoter of KFin Technologies, sold 1,51,35,135 shares at ₹925 per share through the bulk deal. The transaction was executed at ₹925 per share, compared with KFin Technologies' closing price of ₹961 on NSE, representing a 3% discount from the previous close. Investec is acting as the sole broker for the transaction, managing the share sale process.
The block deal saw significant institutional participation with 12 global and domestic investors participating in the transaction. Invesco Mutual Fund emerged as the largest buyer, acquiring 43.24 lakh shares, representing 2.5% stake for around ₹400 crore. Mirae Asset Mutual Fund purchased 25.62 lakh shares, representing 1.48% stake for ₹237 crore, while Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company acquired 20 lakh shares, or 1.15% stake for ₹185 crore. Other notable participants included HSBC Mutual Fund (17.84 lakh shares), Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company (9.84 lakh shares), Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore (8.4 lakh shares), Citigroup Global Markets Singapore (7.2 lakh shares), Edelweiss Mutual Fund (6.4 lakh shares), Bandhan Mutual Fund (5.6 lakh shares), Societe Generale (4.8 lakh shares), ICICI Lombard General Insurance (4.0 lakh shares), and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (3.2 lakh shares). Among insurers, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance also participated in the transaction.
Following the transaction, General Atlantic's holding in KFin Technologies declined to 13.14% from 21.89%, representing a significant reduction in the private equity firm's stake. At the end of the June quarter, promoter entities held 23% stake in Kfin Technologies while public shareholding comprised 77%. The 1.51 crore shares sold on Thursday represent around 40% of General Atlantic's June-quarter holding. If the entire block is attributed to the promoter entity, its holding would come down to roughly 13.14%. The stock opened 1.58% higher at ₹963 on Thursday before settling 1.37% higher at ₹961 during the session, with the company having a market capitalisation of about ₹16,386 crore at Wednesday's close. As of June 2026, Kotak Mahindra AMC held a 1.89% stake, while Mirae Asset Mutual Fund, HSBC Mutual Fund, and Bandhan Mutual Fund held 1.79%, 1.28%, and 1.4% stakes respectively.
This transaction marks General Atlantic's continued divestment strategy in KFin Technologies, following previous stake sales. In May 2025, General Atlantic had pared a 10% stake in KFin Technologies for ₹1,790 crore. Prior to that, in May 2024, it had divested a 5.8% stake for ₹712 crore. KFin Technologies, which was listed on the bourses in December 2022, had raised a total of ₹1,500 crore through its initial public offering (IPO). The IPO was entirely an offer for sale by its promoter, General Atlantic Singapore. Incorporated in 2017, KFin Technologies provides services and solutions to asset managers and corporate issuers across asset classes.
