JSW Infrastructure stocks surged over 5% on Friday following reports of a potential fundraising initiative. According to reports from CNBC-TV18, citing sources, the company's shares rose as much as 5.1% to ₹289.35 in afternoon trade on NSE. The stock rally was triggered by emerging reports about the company's consideration of a qualified institutional placement (QIP) to raise around ₹6,000 crore.
According to CNBC-TV18 reports, citing sources, JSW Infrastructure is evaluating a qualified institutional placement (QIP) to raise capital, which could exceed ₹6,000 crore. The proposed fundraise is being considered to support the company's expansion plans and help it meet SEBI's minimum public shareholding (MPS) norms. The company had already secured board approval in February to raise funds through the issuance of up to 25 crore shares. A QIP would allow the company to raise equity capital from institutional investors while strengthening its balance sheet for upcoming infrastructure projects.
The proposed fundraise comes as JSW Infrastructure pursues an ambitious capital expenditure programme. The company has outlined a capital expenditure plan of ₹30,000 crore for the period between FY25 and FY30, with nearly ₹16,500 crore of capex planned up to FY28. This large-scale investment cycle positions the company for significant growth in infrastructure development projects.
Last month, JSW Infra reported its March quarter results showing strong consolidated performance. On a consolidated basis, the company posted revenue from operations of ₹5,361 crore for FY26, marking an increase of nearly 20% from ₹4,476 crore in FY25. Total income, including other income, stood at ₹5,707 crore. Consolidated net profit for the year came in at ₹1,546 crore, compared with ₹1,521 crore in the previous financial year, while diluted earnings per share rose to ₹7.28 from ₹7.19.
