IT services major Infosys Ltd reported 6% year-on-year growth in consolidated net profit at ₹7,823 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared to ₹7,364 crore in the corresponding period last year. Revenue from operations showed robust growth of 11% YoY to ₹49,244 crore during the reporting period. However, the company has trimmed its revenue growth guidance to 1-2% in constant currency for FY27 as against the earlier guidance of 1.5-3%.
According to the latest reports, Infosys added 4,480 employees in the second quarter of financial year 2026-27 (Q2 FY27), bringing its total workforce to 332,542 as of September 30, 2026. This represents a quarter-on-quarter increase from 328,062 recorded at the end of the preceding quarter on June 30, 2026. The company hired 8,000 fresh graduates during the quarter, with 4,000 net employees added overall. As per the company's Q2 FY27 employee metrics, Infosys has already completed half of its planned headcount additions during the first half of FY27, maintaining its earlier hiring guidance.
As reported by ET Now, Infosys' last-twelve-month voluntary attrition rate in IT services stood at 12.7 per cent in Q2 FY27, showing improvement from 13 per cent in the previous quarter and 14.3 per cent a year earlier. The attrition rate fell 30 basis points sequentially and 160 basis points year-on-year from 14.3% in Q2 FY26. This decline indicates better employee retention and reduced turnover rates within the company's IT services division, with the reported figure representing trailing 12-month voluntary attrition rather than departures during the September quarter alone.
According to the company's Q2 FY27 employee metrics, the workforce composition showed positive trends with 314,508 software professionals, up from 310,039 in June, while sales and support staff increased marginally to 18,034 from 18,023. The proportion of women employees also edged higher to 39.8% in Q2 FY27 from 39.6% in the previous quarter and 39.5% a year earlier. Software professionals continue to account for the majority of Infosys' workforce, reflecting the company's focus on its core IT services business amid the ongoing hiring activity.
Artificial intelligence is emerging as a significant growth driver for Infosys. AI-related revenue accounted for 10.5% of total revenue in Q2 FY27, with the figure increasing 29% sequentially. This growth highlights the increasing contribution of AI-related services to the company's business, as IT services companies balance workforce requirements with demand for artificial intelligence, automation and digital transformation services. The hiring activity reflects this strategic focus on building capabilities in emerging technology areas.
