According to latest reports, Hindustan Motors reported a standalone net loss of ₹4.3 crore in Q4 FY26, representing a significant deterioration from the net loss of ₹0.2 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company's financial performance showed a marked decline across key metrics during the quarter, with total income rising 367% year-on-year to ₹5.0 crore from ₹1.2 crore in Q3 FY26. However, the wider loss was primarily attributed to an exceptional write-off of ₹8.4 crore related to plant and equipment at the resumed Uttarpara factory land.
As reported by Business Standard, the company faced severe revenue challenges with no sales reported in both the quarter ended March 2026 and the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This complete absence of revenue generation highlights the operational difficulties Hindustan Motors has been experiencing in recent quarters, with the company maintaining its revenue-free status throughout the full year period.
According to latest data, for the full financial year FY26, Hindustan Motors reported a net loss of ₹0.02 crore, marking a dramatic shift from the net profit of ₹15.6 crore achieved in FY25. The company's total income declined significantly to ₹12.3 crore in FY26 from ₹24.4 crore in FY25. Despite the revenue decline, the company's accumulated losses reduced to ₹100.6 crore as of March 31, 2026, compared with ₹252.2 crore in March 2017, indicating improved financial management over time.
The company's financial performance was significantly impacted by the Government of West Bengal's resumption and possession of the Uttarpara factory land during the year, resulting in the write-off of plant and equipment. Hindustan Motors continues to rationalise costs following the suspension of work at the Uttarpara plant, with employee-related liabilities having reduced over the years. The company maintains its debt-free status apart from employee-related and other liabilities, with current assets continuing to exceed current liabilities.
