Himadri Speciality Chemical shares have delivered exceptional returns, jumping about 50% over the last six months compared to a 4% decline in the equity benchmark Sensex during the same period. According to reports from Mint, the chemical stock has been on a strong bull trend this year despite weak stock market sentiment. On Monday, Himadri shares opened at ₹665.25 against their previous close of ₹671.65 and touched an intraday high and low of ₹687 and ₹665.25, respectively. The stock has demonstrated remarkable long-term performance, delivering a multibagger return of 150% over three years and 1,375% over the last five years.
Himadri Speciality Chemicals is investing ₹2,800 crore in battery materials and specialty carbon to target ₹30,000 crore in revenue over the next six years. According to Mint reports, Himadri plans to invest about ₹1,300 crore in Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), Carbon Nano Tube, Super Speciality Carbon Black and other advanced high-value products in FY27. The company is also preparing for another investment cycle of around ₹1,500 crore in the following year. To power its global ambitions, Himadri recently increased its stake in International Battery Company, Inc. (IBC) to 20.47% with an additional investment of $0.66 million and increased its investment in Australia-based Sicona Battery Technologies in May this year. The company estimates an EPS of ₹21 for FY28 and plans to launch new high value added products every quarter with global ambitions in mind.
According to Seema Srivastava, Senior Research Analyst at SMC Global Securities, Himadri's nearly 50% six-month rally appears fundamentally driven by strong near-term earnings and significant re-rating of its long-term growth profile. As reported by Mint, Q1FY27 consolidated revenue grew 28% YoY to ₹1,432 crore, EBITDA rose 33% to ₹313 crore with a healthy 22% margin, while PAT increased 27% to ₹228 crore. The company posted its highest-ever revenue, EBITDA and profit in the first quarter of FY27, with management highlighting a continued shift towards higher-value products supporting expectations of structurally improving margins and return ratios. "Our margins have grown steadily in the last three years," said Choudhary, Managing Director and CEO.
According to Anurag Choudhary, Managing Director and CEO of Himadri Speciality Chemicals, the focus is now on high-value-added and speciality products, with the company adding more products quarter-on-quarter, changing the entire dynamics of the company. As reported by Mint, Himadri aims to emerge as a global advanced materials company with a target of ₹30,000 crore from the battery materials business in the next 6 years. The company announced the incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary Ardent Impex FZCO in Dubai Airport Free Zone, UAE on August 31, providing a foothold in one of the world's busiest commercial corridors with focus on industrial chemicals and petrochemicals trading. "The focus now is on high-value-added and specialty products, which is paving the way for the future growth of the company. If you look at our product profile, we are now into fully specialty chemicals. And every quarter we are adding more products, which is changing the entire dynamics of the company," said Choudhary.
The company's expansion comes as demand for battery storage and materials is expected to rise with the growth of electric vehicles and renewable energy. According to Choudhary, the company expects margins to maintain their upward trend, citing continued improvement in product mix and specialty chemicals. However, the planned investments will also expose the company to execution risks, including technology adoption, demand cycles and competition in the rapidly evolving battery materials market. The partnership with International Battery Company (IBC) is aimed at supporting the commercial deployment of LFP cathode and advanced anode materials, positioning Himadri strategically in the global energy storage supply chain.
