The project represents a significant expansion of HGS's infrastructure capabilities, with the initiative aimed at connecting over 20 lakh households across Uttar Pradesh over the next 2-3 years. The MoU was initially signed in March 2026 between the Uttar Pradesh State Transformation Commission, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and OneOTT Intertainment Ltd, HGS's broadband vertical.
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited announced robust performance for May 2026, with new business premium growing 21.4% year-on-year to ₹248.10 crore. HDFC Bank advanced 2% after the Bombay High Court dismissed an interim application filed by the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust seeking to restrain the bank and its MD & CEO, Sashidhar Jagdishan, from making allegedly defamatory statements. As reported by Business Standard, the initiative will onboard 8,000 to 10,000 DSPs at the Nyaya Panchayat level, empowering entrepreneurs to deliver last-mile connectivity and digital services. The project is expected to generate over 100,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, with strong emphasis on youth empowerment and participation of women entrepreneurs. Broadband services will be offered under the brand name 'Ganga Fiber' to households, businesses, and public institutions across the state.
According to Business Standard, HGS shares have remained flat in 2026 so far versus a 10.5% decline in Nifty 50 index, while in one year, the counter has slipped 15% compared with nearly 7% fall in the benchmark index. As of 1 PM, HGS shares were outperforming the markets, trading 15% higher at ₹460 compared to the Nifty index's 0.76% gain. OneOTT Intertainment, HGS's broadband subsidiary, is a leading private internet service provider with over 1 million retail customers and strong presence in broadband and internet services across more than 350 cities and towns.
