GPT Infraprojects announced that Alcon Builders and Engineer, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, has secured a contract worth ₹85.53 crore from CSTE Con, Eastern Railway, Kolkata. According to latest reports from Business Standard, the contract was awarded on September 12, 2026, representing a significant infrastructure development project for the railway division. The gross contract value is ₹85.53 crore including GST, while on an excluding GST basis, the project is valued at ₹70.44 crore. This distinction is important when assessing the economic value of the contract because the GST component is collected and passed through rather than forming operating revenue. The contract represents a purely domestic project with no involvement of promoters or related parties, as disclosed under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations on September 12, 2026.
The latest contract involves the commissioning of auto signalling work using MSDAC for continuous track circuiting and electronic interlocking work at New Mugma and Mugma Yard in the Pradhankunta-Mugma section of Eastern Railway. As reported by Business Standard, this project is specifically connected with Sonnagar-Andal multitracking work. The scope covers electronic interlocking and signalling works across these key railway infrastructure locations, with an execution period of 12 months from the Letter of Acceptance. The work falls under signalling projects for Indian Railways and must be completed within the specified timeline.
This contract award represents a substantial infrastructure investment by Eastern Railway in modernizing railway safety and operational systems. According to Business Standard, the project will enhance the safety and efficiency of railway operations by implementing advanced electronic interlocking technology at New Mugma and Mugma Yard stations along the Pradhankunta-Mugma section. The contract has been classified as railway signalling works, with the completion timeline of 12 months meaning the contract is expected to contribute to the company's revenue over multiple reporting periods rather than being recognised immediately. The project broadens GPT Infraprojects' railway execution portfolio beyond traditional structures such as bridges and sleepers, strengthening the company's position in railway infrastructure modernization.
The latest ₹85.53 crore contract significantly strengthens GPT Infraprojects' financial position and revenue visibility. As reported by Business Standard, the company's outstanding order book now stands at ₹4,400 crore, while total order inflow for FY27 has reached ₹227 crore. The new order therefore adds to an already sizeable backlog and provides further revenue visibility over the coming years. The company operates through two principal segments as a railway focused infrastructure player with extensive experience in bridges, road over bridges and railway linked construction. Beyond its railway infrastructure business, GPT Infraprojects has concrete sleeper manufacturing facilities across several geographies, providing exposure to railway infrastructure opportunities in both Indian and African markets.
Despite the positive contract wins, GPT Infraprojects shares declined 1.15% to close at ₹112.05 on the BSE on Friday, as reported by Business Standard. The stock movement occurred despite the company's strong order book position and recent contract acquisitions. On a consolidated basis, the company's net profit increased 4.90% YoY but declined 22.74% QoQ to ₹24.63 crore in Q1 FY27, while net sales declined 3.38% YoY and 27.16% QoQ to ₹302.07 crore in the same period. The mixed financial performance reflects the challenges in the infrastructure sector amid economic uncertainties.
