Gokul Agro Resources Ltd (GARL) has welcomed the Department of Consumer Affairs' notification introducing nine standard pack sizes for edible oils under the Legal Metrology framework. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, the company views this as a significant step toward enhancing transparency, simplifying price comparison, and strengthening consumer confidence across the edible oils market. The notification covers pack sizes ranging from 200 ml/g to 20 litre/kg, with a three-month transition period for industry compliance.
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, the standardisation move is aimed at eliminating non-standard pack sizes that often make it difficult for consumers to accurately compare prices and assess value across brands. Arun Harne, Chief Business Officer of GARL, stated that the reform will help simplify value comparisons and enable more informed choices in a category where consumers often make purchase decisions based on visible pack prices. The initiative is described as a consumer-first reform that strengthens transparency at the retail shelf and encourages competition based on quality, consistency, and trust rather than packaging variations.
According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, Gokul Agro reported its strongest-ever financial performance in 2025-26, with revenue crossing ₹24,000 crore, sales volumes reaching 19.2 lakh tonnes, and profit after tax growing 50 per cent year-on-year. The company serves millions of households through a diversified edible oil portfolio and believes that transparent market practices are essential for building long-term consumer confidence.
