Gillette India is witnessing strong growth in its women's grooming business, with its brand Venus expanding by over 20% annually and contributing a double-digit share to the company's grooming portfolio. According to CFO Srividya Srinivasan during the company's analyst meeting, the brand has established itself as a significant contributor to the grooming segment. The company has expanded the Venus portfolio to cater to a wide range of consumer needs, from entry-level products such as Simply Venus to premium offerings. As Srinivasan explained, the main growth lever is adding first-time users in female hair removal, with the company concentrating on hair removal at home as the fastest-growing sub-segment in recent years.
Srinivasan identified the biggest opportunity for the brand lies in attracting new users, as female hair removal remains a diverse category where razors compete not only with rival brands but also with alternatives such as hair-removal creams, waxing products and salon services. The company's focus has been on the in-home hair removal segment, with razors as a sub-segment seeing the fastest growth in recent years. According to the company, changing consumer preferences are creating opportunities for products that offer convenience, comfort and ease of use, with women today seeking hair-removal options that are easy, painless and hassle-free. Srinivasan noted that the market is large but adoption varies by habit and occasion, with the company seeing convenience as a key driver for at-home use.
The company is stepping up investments in influencer-led campaigns and digital outreach to drive awareness and encourage adoption among women consumers. As reported by the company, they are increasing their scale of influencer activations, expanding the reach of their media model and continuing to invest to build the category and business for Venus. The strategy focuses on engaging consumers at relevant occasions and addressing misconceptions around shaving through relatable and aspirational content. According to Srinivasan, the content aims to correct myths about shaving and build the overall category, with the company putting more resources into digital outreach and influencer-led campaigns.
Gillette India reported sales of ₹790 crore and net profit of ₹172 crore for the quarter ended December 2025, continuing a run of operating margin expansion that has taken quarterly OPM from the low twenties to above 30 percent over the past two years. The company has delivered productivity initiatives that delivered savings of ₹38 crore in FY 2025-26, spanning materials, manufacturing, advertising spend, working capital and overheads. The company continues to be the market leader in the Blades and Razors segment, with the company having grown year on year. According to Srinivasan, the company has consistently delivered balanced topline and bottom-line growth over the past five years, with absolute sales growing 1.5x over the past 5 years while absolute profit has doubled.
