GHCL's standalone net profit surged 32.05% to ₹191.18 crore in the quarter ended June 2026, compared to ₹144.78 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. According to The Economic Times, this represents a significant improvement in the company's bottom-line performance despite facing revenue challenges. The Gujarat-based chemical maker's total income fell 3.06% to ₹798.01 crore from ₹823.19 crore a year earlier, while total expenses declined to ₹594.10 crore from ₹627.96 crore, helping boost profitability through better cost management.
Operating profit margin (OPM) improved to 26.98% in the June 2026 quarter, compared to 24.78% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. As reported by The Economic Times, better operational execution, improved realisations and lower input costs lifted margins during the quarter. GHCL Managing Director R S Jalan highlighted the company's sustained resilience against volatile global geopolitical conditions, noting that the global soda ash market continues to face volatility and shipping disruptions with stable underlying demand offset by surplus supply.
New projects are nearing commercial operations in the second quarter of FY27, with the company's Bromine and Vacuum Salt projects in advanced stages of commissioning. According to The Economic Times, Jalan confirmed that these projects are expected to begin commercial operations in the second quarter of FY27. The company's greenfield soda ash project is progressing slowly, though Jalan noted that long-term fundamentals for the soda ash industry remain positive, citing domestic demand from the detergent and glass sectors as well as emerging demand from the renewable energy industry.
Despite current margin improvements, Jalan cautioned that an ongoing global conflict was likely to push up energy and raw material costs, which would weigh on margins as the year progresses. GHCL operates a soda ash plant at Sutrapada in Gujarat with an installed capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum, making it India's largest single-location soda ash maker.
