The venture, Faurecia Anand Seating India Private Ltd, has been formally incorporated with a 50-50 ownership structure. As reported by LiveMint, Forvia will hold 50 per cent plus one share, while Gabriel India will hold 50 per cent minus one share. According to Gabriel India's latest filing to stock exchanges, the transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals. The new JV will be controlled by Forvia and will focus on seat frames and complete seats. The total planned paid-up capital of the joint venture is ₹100 crore, structured across two funding tranches. Gabriel India will invest ₹49.99 crore for a 50% less 1 equity share stake, with the initial investment at incorporation being ₹20 crore, split nearly equally between Gabriel India and Forvia. This partnership builds on Gabriel India's recent strategic initiatives, including its partnership with HL Klemove for automotive electronics and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) solutions, reinforcing the company's push into high-growth, future-oriented automotive technologies. The joint venture will offer next-generation automotive seating systems focused on enhanced comfort and safety while supporting the requirements of vehicle manufacturers.
The joint venture targets reaching approximately 10% market share in the Indian passenger vehicle seating segment within five years, representing a significant expansion from Gabriel India's traditional ride-control and shock absorber portfolio. As reported by LiveMint, this venture marks a major strategic shift for Gabriel India, historically known as a shock absorber specialist, as the move into complete seating systems and seat frames expands its Total Addressable Market (TAM) significantly. Seating systems command higher content-per-vehicle values, which could act as a strong revenue engine for the company. The total capital commitment of ₹49.99 crore is well-phased and manageable under current balance sheet dynamics, with Gabriel India funding the investment via internal accruals. The entry of a technologically backed new player into the passenger vehicle seating segment could intensify competition for existing local suppliers, but for auto OEMs, this JV offers an additional localized, high-quality sourcing option for complete seat assemblies, supporting the 'Make in India' momentum and localized supply chain resilience.
Jaisal Singh, Vice-Chairman of ANAND Group, who spearheads the group's mergers and acquisitions, emphasized that this partnership is a natural extension of Gabriel India's transformation into a broader mobility solutions enterprise. According to LiveMint, Singh stated that as vehicle systems become more integrated and technology-intensive, the ability to participate across a wider spectrum of the automotive value chain assumes strategic importance. Anjali Singh, Executive Chairperson of ANAND Group and Gabriel India Ltd, highlighted that the venture strengthens their longstanding partnership with Forvia, building on complementary strengths and a shared commitment to innovation. As reported by LiveMint, Singh noted that by bringing together Forvia's global expertise and Gabriel India's strong market presence, it creates a platform that is both strategically significant and future-ready. The partnership enables Gabriel India to participate in the automotive seating segment as vehicle architectures become more integrated and customer demand shifts towards technology-enabled vehicle systems. Singh described the venture as adding "a globally proven capability" to the portfolio, reflecting the group's aim of building institutions that contribute to the evolution of the mobility sector.
The stock market has responded positively to Gabriel India's strategic expansion, with shares demonstrating strong momentum across multiple timeframes. In August, the stock also touched a record high of ₹1,600, although recent market volatility has led to a marginal pullback. Over the longer term, the stock has delivered positive returns in each of the past five years, with 2023 emerging as its best-performing year, when it gained 111%. The stock has maintained a similar upward trend in the current year, advancing another 35%.
