Fredun Pharmaceuticals (FPL) has completed the acquisition of Furlicks, an innovative pet-wellness brand specializing in convenient oral-strip solutions for pets. According to reports from Business Standard, the acquisition brings the brand's differentiated product innovation and consumer understanding into the FPL Group. The deal involves acquiring the brand from USV & Wellbeing Nutrition, marking FPL's entry into the pet wellness segment. As reported by multiple sources, the acquisition sees Fredun Pharmaceuticals sourcing the Furlicks brand jointly from pharma major USV and its subsidiary Wellbeing Nutrition, representing a deliberate diversification into the growing pet wellness segment.
The acquisition comes at a strategic time when pet parenting is evolving from a predominantly need-based approach towards a more proactive focus on preventive health. As reported by Business Standard, this shift coincides with pet parents becoming more aware and increasingly willing to invest in nutrition and specialized products for their pets. Furlicks addresses this consumer need through its oral-strip format, offering an alternative to conventional forms of pet supplements. Its existing portfolio spans key pet-wellness categories including skin and coat, gut health, joint care, calming, oral care, and multivitamins.
Fredun Medhora, MD & CFO of Fredun Pharmaceuticals, described the acquisition as marking a bold new chapter in FPL's journey into pet wellness. As reported by Business Standard, Medhora stated that Furlicks represents more than an addition to the portfolio, positioning it as a differentiated platform with potential to build a significant pet-wellness business. The company plans to combine Furlicks' innovation and consumer-first approach with FPL's manufacturing capabilities, scale and execution strength to make quality pet care more accessible to millions of pet parents across India. According to recent reports, the acquisition signals FPL's intent to expand beyond its existing pharmaceutical portfolio into the pet wellness space, aiming to establish a presence at the intersection of animal health and consumer wellness.
Furlicks focuses on convenient, easy-to-administer oral-strip solutions, offering an alternative to conventional pet supplements. Its existing portfolio spans key categories including skin and coat, gut health, joint care, calming, oral care, and multivitamins. As part of its initial rollout strategy, FPL plans to introduce 12 new SKUs in the first phase, with 32 new SKUs aligned for launch in the second phase. This expansion strategy aims to leverage FPL's resources and capabilities to take what Furlicks has built to the next level and create India's first comprehensive pet-wellness platform. The company's ambition is to evolve Furlicks from a differentiated oral-strip proposition into a broader everyday pet-wellness platform over time.
