Escorts Kubota Ltd has officially announced the commercial launch of its new Shaurya series of paddy tractors on March 3, 2026, expanding its offerings in the agricultural machinery segment with five variants ranging from 39 HP to 52 HP, aimed at the domestic market. According to reports from HomeStocksNews, The Hindu BusinessLine, and The Times of India, the latest product is launched under the Powertrac brand, which is one of the three tractor brands operated by the company in India alongside Kubota and Farmtrac. The Shaurya series is engineered specifically for reliable operations in wetland and waterlogged field conditions, featuring advanced design elements tailored for paddy cultivation requirements across Southern Indian states including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The tractors incorporate cassette-type sealing across critical aggregates to help prevent water and mud ingress during operations and feature a sharp turning radius of 3.1 metres to support manoeuvrability in small and medium-sized field conditions. As per The Hindu BusinessLine, this marks the first time the Powertrac brand is introducing a dedicated paddy and wetland-focused series developed specifically for the paddy-growing regions of southern India.
Commenting on the launch, Nikhil Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director, Escorts Kubota, stated that Southern India is central to Escorts Kubota's next phase of growth, and the company is strengthening its presence through focused, high-quality, application-led products. Bharat Madan, Whole-time Director and CFO, noted that this introduction strengthens their participation in the paddy segment in Southern markets and improves the regional composition of their tractor portfolio. According to The Times of India, Nanda emphasized that "This is not just a product launch but a strategic launch of a product we did not have in our portfolio. The southern markets—Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu—grew more than the markets we are strong in." The company is aspiring to grow faster than the tractor industry, with at least 8 to 10 products to be rolled out every year until 2030-31, including offerings such as harvesters and transplanters. Akira Kato, Deputy Managing Director, emphasized that their product development begins with field conditions rather than standard platforms, with Shaurya engineered specifically for paddy and wetland operations in Southern markets. As per The Hindu BusinessLine, Nanda emphasized that Escorts Kubota is on its path to become a pan-Indian company with growing ambition to serve diverse regional markets across India.
Neeraj Mehra, Chief Officer – Tractor Business Division, explained that Powertrac Shaurya is designed specifically for wetland farming with cassette-type sealing across critical aggregates to help prevent water and mud ingress during operations. The tractors offer a sharp turning radius of 3.10 metres to support manoeuvrability in small and medium-sized field conditions. Key technical features include dual PTO options (540/1000) and reverse PTO, 8 forward and 2 reverse gears, Sensi-1 hydraulic lift in the 1600-2000 kg range, and independent PTO lever with double clutch configuration for controlled implement operations. Additional specialized features include a perforated elevated platform for paddy use, protected wiring harness routing, and an adjustable slider seat with anti-slippery pads. The company plans to launch a 4-wheel-drive (4WD) tractor within the next 4 months and aims to cover 85% of the range in terms of application products in the Indian market by the next 2 years.
Escorts Kubota delivered exceptional sales performance in February 2026, with total sales reaching 10,339 units compared to 8,590 units in February 2025, representing a robust 20.4% year-on-year increase and surpassing analyst estimates of 9,100 units. Domestic tractor sales grew 22.1% to 9,725 units from 7,968 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, driven by favorable government policies and positive rural sentiment. The company operates three tractor brands in India — Kubota, Farmtrac and Powertrac — catering to premium, entry-premium and value segments respectively, with the Powertrac brand representing the value and mass segment across multiple agricultural applications. Nikhil Nanda stated that "After we get the products, we are confident to grow in excess of the industry and grow market share." The company's tractor business showed strong cumulative growth of 16.7% for the eleven-month period from April to February, while the construction equipment segment faced headwinds with a 14.3% decline over the same period.
The Powertrac Shaurya series will be available across authorised Powertrac dealerships in Southern India, reinforcing Escorts Kubota's commitment to expanding its presence in the agricultural machinery segment and addressing specific regional farming requirements. Akira Kato, Deputy Managing Director, emphasized that their product development begins with field conditions rather than standard platforms, with Shaurya engineered specifically for paddy and wetland operations in Southern markets. The company's tractor business showed strong cumulative growth of 16.7% for the eleven-month period from April to February, while the construction equipment segment faced headwinds with a 14.3% decline over the same period. As per The Hindu BusinessLine, the success of the Shaurya series will depend on its acceptance by farmers, pricing, and dealer network effectiveness, entering a market dominated by giants like Mahindra & Mahindra, TAFE, and Sonalika. The company's brands are positioned across segments — Powertrac for mass market, Farmtrac for mid-market, and Kubota for premium segments, with plans to launch 8 to 10 products every year between the three brands and exports until FY31.
