According to the latest unaudited financial results approved by the Board of Directors on August 6, 2026, Elin Electronics reported a consolidated net loss of ₹214.14 crore in Q1 FY27, marking a significant reversal from the net profit of ₹93.92 crore recorded during the corresponding quarter of FY25. The company's financial performance was severely impacted by an exceptional loss of ₹246.55 crore due to a major fire incident at its Ghaziabad manufacturing facility, alongside significant margin compression from rising input costs. Excluding the fire-related loss, the company still reported a pre-tax loss of ₹38 crore, indicating that core operational profitability was significantly eroded by structural cost pressures.
Despite the profitability challenges, Elin Electronics achieved strong revenue growth with consolidated revenue from operations rising 23% year-on-year to ₹3,548.02 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to ₹2,887.62 crore in the same period of FY25. The growth was primarily driven by volume increases in lighting and small appliances segments. Standalone revenue reached ₹2,673.57 crore, up from ₹2,340.13 crore in the previous year, while total income for the consolidated group reached ₹3,652.82 crore. However, the increase in cost of materials consumed to 78.4% of revenue, up from 72.0% in Q1 FY25, suggests sustained margin pressure that warrants monitoring in subsequent quarters.
The company's operational performance showed significant deterioration with EBITDA declining sharply to ₹39 million from ₹176 million in the year-ago quarter, while EBITDA margin contracted severely to 1.10% from 5.90% year-on-year. Gross margins were impacted by approximately 640 basis points year-on-year due to a sharp surge in polymer prices linked to higher crude oil prices from geopolitical conflicts, escalation in metal prices—particularly aluminium—and the depreciation of the INR against the USD. Additionally, an unanticipated ~25% revision in minimum wages in Ghaziabad effective April 1, 2026, further pressured employee benefits costs. The fire incident resulted in damage to inventories, property, plant, and equipment, as well as the factory building, with the company currently lodging insurance claims and no recovery recognized pending final assessment.
Revenue growth was led by the Lighting, Fans & Switches segment, which rose to ₹1,060 million from ₹801 million year-on-year, driven by fan volumes up approximately 75% and new customer ramp-ups in lighting. Small Appliances revenue grew approximately 70% to ₹1,106 million, supported by strong demand in kitchen and home care products. However, Fractional Horsepower Motors revenue declined to ₹456 million from ₹614 million due to reduced volumes in chimney and mixer grinder motors amid high prices. Management noted that customer price adjustments for small appliances have been implemented with effect from July, using average Q1 commodity prices. The company also disclosed ongoing capex towards its Bhiwadi facility with ₹620 million (excluding land) recorded in CWIP and capital advances.
