Dredging Corporation of India delivered a remarkable financial turnaround in the June quarter, reporting a net profit of ₹11.23 crore in Q2FY27 compared to a net loss of ₹23.33 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. According to latest reports, this marks a significant operational improvement, with the company posting its first quarterly profit after a challenging period. The turnaround was driven by robust revenue growth and higher business activity during the quarter.
Revenue from operations demonstrated exceptional growth, increasing 46.7% year-on-year to ₹355.4 crore from ₹242.2 crore in the previous year. As reported by latest data, the company's total income reached ₹355.4 crore compared to ₹242.2 crore in the year-ago period. The substantial revenue jump highlights the impact of higher business activity and improved operational performance during the quarter, with the company achieving its strongest quarterly performance to date.
At the operating level, EBITDA increased 32% to ₹62 crore from ₹47 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, representing solid growth in operating earnings. However, EBITDA margin narrowed to 17.42% from 19.36% a year earlier, indicating that while the company generated higher operating earnings in absolute terms, costs increased at a faster pace compared with revenue growth. This margin compression reflects the company's focus on expanding operations during the quarter.
The positive financial results were reflected in strong stock performance, with shares closing at ₹1,120.10, up ₹23.65 or 2.16% in the previous trading session. The stock has demonstrated remarkable momentum, gaining more than 13% in the previous week and jumping more than 67% over the last one year. According to Moneycontrol, the share touched a 52-week high of ₹1,285.00 and a 52-week low of ₹561.70, currently trading 12.83% below its 52-week high and 99.41% above its 52-week low. The company's market capitalisation stands at ₹3,136.28 crore, reflecting strong investor confidence in the operational turnaround.
The company operates in a sector closely linked to port development, coastal infrastructure and maintenance of waterways, with dredging demand supported by India's growing focus on maritime infrastructure and port capacity expansion. According to Moneycontrol, government initiatives around port modernisation and logistics infrastructure have increased the importance of efficient dredging services to maintain navigable channels and support larger vessels, providing a positive backdrop for the sector's growth prospects. The latest quarterly results demonstrate the company's ability to capitalize on these favorable market conditions and position itself for continued growth in the dredging sector.
