
Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has announced that the Ministry of Railways approved the appointment of Ajit Kumar Panda as chairman and managing director (CMD), effective from 1 August 2026. According to the latest Railway Board order issued on June 29, 2026, Panda has been appointed in the IDA pay scale of ₹2,00,000 to ₹3,70,000. His tenure will commence from the date he assumes office and continue until his superannuation on 31 August 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Panda currently serves as Director (Projects & Services) at CONCOR and has been associated with the organisation's project and service functions for several years, overseeing logistics and infrastructure-related initiatives within the company. As per the official Railway Board order, Panda will formally take charge as CMD on or after August 1, 2026. This appointment is in accordance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, with the company completing all necessary procedures under the Companies Act 2013 and SEBI regulations.
In a significant development, RITES Limited has signed an MoU with CONCOR to deliver comprehensive Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for logistics infrastructure development. Under this partnership, RITES will provide end-to-end PMC services covering the entire project lifecycle—from concept to commissioning, including feasibility studies, preparation of Detailed Project Reports, detailed engineering, architectural and structural design, project supervision, quality assurance, and construction management. The collaboration will cover concept-to-commissioning consultancy for development and improvement of CONCOR terminals and establishments, with services provided on a work-to-work basis. The partnership will support the development and improvement of infrastructure, including multimodal logistics parks, inland container depots, rail-linked terminals, warehouses, railway infrastructure, administrative buildings, roads, utilities and allied facilities. This integrated approach is designed to ensure better coordination and execution efficiency across all project stages, with the goal of accelerating the development of modern logistics infrastructure in India, particularly in rail-linked and multimodal transport systems. The collaboration will leverage RITES' multidisciplinary engineering and project management expertise to support the planning, design, execution and supervision of infrastructure projects undertaken for CONCOR.
The company reported mixed financial results for Q4 FY26, with consolidated net profit declining 12.38% to ₹262.65 crore compared with ₹299.79 crore posted in the corresponding quarter last year. As reported by Business Standard, revenue from operations slipped 1.1% year-on-year to ₹2,263.30 crore in the quarter ended 31 March 2026. CONCOR is engaged in the business of providing inland transportation of containers by rail, along with management of ports and air cargo complexes and establishment of cold chains.
Despite the financial challenges, the counter rose 0.76% to settle at ₹473 on the BSE following the leadership announcement. According to CNBC TV18, shares of Container Corporation of India Ltd ended at ₹473.00, up by ₹3.55, or 0.76%, while RITES Ltd shares ended at ₹206.90, down by ₹1.90, or 0.91% on the BSE. This positive market reaction suggests investor confidence in the new leadership appointment and potential future performance improvements under Panda's guidance, particularly given his internal experience and the company's strategic position in India's expanding logistics sector. The recent infrastructure partnership with RITES is expected to further enhance CONCOR's capabilities in modern logistics infrastructure development. Meanwhile, RITES expects its export and turnkey businesses to drive growth in 2026-27 (FY27) after closing 2025-26 (FY26) with an all-time high order book of over ₹9,400 crore. As per CNBC TV18, RITES CMD Rahul Mithal said the company's international business has revived strongly after a two-year gap, supported by a ₹2,100 crore overseas order book spanning consultancy and rolling stock exports, with the company expecting at least 10-15% growth in turnkey contribution in FY27.
