According to reports from CNBC TV18 and Business Standard, CESC Ltd announced that its subsidiary, Purvah Green Power Pvt. Ltd., has received a Letter of Award from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 175 MW grid-connected wind power project. The Letter of Award was issued on August 5, 2026, following Purvah Green Power's bid in SECI's Request for Selection for setting up 2,000 MW ISTS-connected wind power projects under SECI Tranche-XX. The project has been awarded under the tariff-based competitive bidding route for the selection of a wind power developer.
As reported by CNBC TV18, under the award, Purvah Green Power will supply power from the 175 MW wind power project at a tariff of ₹3.85 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The contract has a tenure of 25 years from the scheduled commencement date of power supply. The awarding entity is a domestic entity, and CESC confirmed that neither the promoter nor the promoter group has any interest in SECI, and the contract does not constitute a related-party transaction.
According to CNBC TV18, earlier in March this year, CESC Ltd had issued four Letters of Award for the development of wind-solar hybrid power projects under the Ministry of Power's tariff-based competitive bidding guidelines. The total capacity awarded is 600 MW, with Purvah Green Power Private Ltd securing 300 MW. The remaining 300 MW was awarded equally to Vismaya Renewables India Project Private Ltd, Hexa Climate Solutions Private Ltd, and Sprng Energy Private Ltd, each receiving 100 MW.
As reported by CNBC TV18, shares of CESC Ltd ended at ₹162.75, down by ₹0.80, or 0.49%, on the BSE following the announcement. The 300 MW project awarded to Purvah is treated as a related-party transaction and executed on an arm's-length basis under competitive bidding, while the other three contracts involve domestic entities and do not fall under related-party transactions.
