
Bikaji Foods International shares surged as much as 4.12% to hit an intraday high of ₹635.95 on Thursday, August 27, following the announcement of a strategic partnership with bakery expert Thayekunni Khaleel. According to latest exchange filings, the partnership involves transferring a 30% equity stake in Bikaji Bakes (BBPL) to Khaleel, while Bikaji Foods retains a 70% majority stake. BBPL will continue to operate as a subsidiary of the parent company. The stock witnessed heavier than usual trading activity with volumes on the National Stock Exchange jumping by 5.3 times to 5.15 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 97,049 shares. However, the stock closed the day at ₹609.20, down 0.47%, giving it a total market capitalisation of approximately ₹15,274 crore. The stock has underperformed significantly over the past year, declining roughly 23% over 12 months against the Nifty 500's 3% gain in the same period.
The partnership combines Khaleel's deep technical expertise and global bakery experience with Bikaji Foods' strong understanding of the Indian consumer, extensive distribution network, and retail ecosystem presence. As reported by the company, through this collaboration, BBPL aims to bring world-class bakery practices, technical capabilities, and expertise to India while leveraging Bikaji's established market infrastructure and consumer reach to build a scalable bakery business with strong long-term potential. The partnership is structured around combining Khaleel's technical bakery expertise and global industry experience with Bikaji's distribution muscle, retail footprint, and consumer insights in India. Through BBPL, the two partners aim to introduce international-standard bakery practices and products to the Indian market.

According to the latest statements, Agarwal stated that bakery represents a category with significant headroom for growth in India, and the next phase of that growth will be driven by a combination of world-class technical capabilities and deep understanding of the Indian consumer. He highlighted that the partnership brings together Khaleel's exceptional technical expertise and global bakery experience with Bikaji's strengths in distribution, sales, retail, and consumer understanding. Bikaji Foods described the partnership as a forward-looking move that allows BBPL to pursue focused growth independently while the parent company concentrates on its core ethnic snacks and sweets business.
Bikaji Foods International reported strong financial results for the first quarter of the current financial year. The company posted a net profit of ₹65 crore, marking an increase of 3.2% from ₹63 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations advanced 9% to ₹664 crore at the end of June quarter from ₹608 crore in the year-ago period. As of 2:25 pm, Bikaji Foods shares traded 0.8% higher at ₹615, outperforming the BSE500 index which was down 0.25%.
