
Bharat Value Fund, a private equity vehicle, announced a ₹300 crore investment in Big Mishra Pedha for an undisclosed stake on Tuesday. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine and PTI, the investment aims to help the regional heritage brand transition into a national food platform while retaining its traditional strengths. The investment was announced by Bharat Value Fund, a category II alternate investment fund promoted by The Wealth Company, which is focused on identifying and scaling high-potential Indian businesses.
Big Mishra, a 93-year-old brand, currently operates over 200 outlets across North Karnataka, Goa and southern Maharashtra. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine and PTI, the company plans to add 100 outlets and enter over 50 new cities in the next two years, supported by modern trade and quick commerce expansion. The brand is the custodian of the GI-tagged 'Dharwad Pedha' and serves over a crore customers annually.
The company's financial performance has shown significant improvement, with revenues more than doubling to ₹300 crore in FY26 from ₹142 crore in FY22, according to the official statement. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine and PTI, the company maintains healthy pre-tax profitability and operates two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities along with an in-house dairy.
Madhu Lunawat, founder of The Wealth Company Asset Management, emphasized that many strong regional brands have not yet had the opportunity to scale nationally despite earning consumer trust. According to the official statement, she believes their role is to help such regional champions scale while retaining the heritage and entrepreneurial strengths that made them successful. Sanjay Ganesh Mishra, the company's promoter, stated that BVF brings institutional capital, strategic expertise and governance framework required for the next phase of growth while allowing preservation of the heritage and quality that have defined Dharwad Pedha for generations.
