Bharat Forge's wholly owned defence subsidiary, Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), unveiled the Simha 4x4 at the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition in Paris on Tuesday, June 16. According to reports from CNBC TV18, Business Standard and The Hindu BusinessLine, the next-generation light armoured multi-purpose vehicle was developed in partnership with global defence and aerospace company Paramount. The launch comes as defence manufacturers increasingly focus on adaptable platforms that can be customised for varied battlefield requirements while reducing lifecycle costs through common components and simplified maintenance. Shares of Bharat Forge traded at ₹2,022 on Wednesday, marginally higher than the previous close of ₹2,012.30, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine. The Simha 4x4 features a modular architecture that allows upgrades and customisation, enabling users to streamline maintenance and supply chains. The vehicle combines high levels of protection with superior on-road and off-road mobility, making it suitable for both urban combat environments and challenging terrain. The companies noted that the vehicle is designed to support local industrialisation and sovereign production objectives, enabling rapid industrialisation and localisation in partner nations.
Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, emphasized the vehicle's global appeal, stating that it demonstrates the company's engineering and defence capabilities on the international stage. According to CNBC TV18, Business Standard and The Hindu BusinessLine, Kalyani highlighted that the platform is Europeanized by design and built around NATO-qualified aggregates, engineered for rapid industrialisation in partner nations. Kalyani added that the platform reflects India's ability to deliver advanced defence solutions while enabling partner countries to build local manufacturing capabilities. Paramount Senior Vice President Eric Ichikowitz noted that defence forces globally are seeking adaptable platforms capable of performing multiple missions and integrating emerging technologies. Eric Ichikowitz added that the Simha 4x4 combines protection, tactical mobility and modularity in a single platform, designed for both urban warfare and on-road and off-road reconnaissance missions. The companies noted that the vehicle has been developed with localisation in mind, enabling production in partner nations and supporting sovereign defence manufacturing objectives.
