Global investment firm Bain Capital completed a significant divestment on Tuesday, selling a ₹612 crore stake in Emcure Pharmaceuticals through open market transactions. According to NSE block deal data, BC Investments IV Ltd, a Mauritius-based investment vehicle and affiliate of Bain Capital, offloaded 36 lakh shares, representing a 1.89% stake in the Pune-based pharmaceutical company. The shares were disposed of at an average price of ₹1,700 per share, with the entire stake acquired by Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund. The transaction represents one of the larger block transactions in the pharmaceutical sector this year and comes less than two years after Emcure Pharmaceuticals' public listing.
Market response to the divestment was overwhelmingly positive, with Emcure Pharmaceuticals shares gaining 3.5% to touch an intraday high of ₹1,807 on Wednesday, June 10, following the block deal announcement. At 10:30 AM on the same day, shares were trading at ₹1,797.7 per share, representing a 3.15% gain on the National Stock Exchange. The stock has demonstrated exceptional performance with shares jumping 7% over a month and soaring 28% in the past six months. From the beginning of the year, Emcure Pharmaceuticals shares have increased over 28%, with the company maintaining a total market capitalisation of ₹34,140.62 crore as of June 10, 2026.
The divestment reflects strong institutional interest in Emcure Pharmaceuticals, which has established itself as a key player in the domestic pharmaceutical market. As reported by The Economic Times, the company maintains a core gynaecology franchise that is projected to deliver double-digit growth aided by its iron deficiency portfolio and moderation in drag from ferric carboxymaltose products in the hospital business. The company has built a diversified portfolio spanning women's health, cardiology, blood-related therapies, oncology and international formulations.
Emcure Pharmaceuticals delivered robust financial results for Q4 FY26, with consolidated net profit surging 28.81% year-on-year to ₹243.4 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, compared to ₹188.96 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations jumped 16.7% YoY to ₹2,469.7 crore, up from ₹2,116.24 crore in Q4 FY25. The company's domestic business recorded revenue of ₹977 crore, up 5.2% YoY from ₹929 crore in the same quarter of FY25, though it reported softer performance largely due to the Zuventus portfolio and team reorganisation. At the operational level, EBITDA stood at ₹485 crore for Q4 FY26, marking a 24.5% YoY increase from ₹390 crore, with EBITDA margin expanding to 19.7% from 18.4% in Q4 FY25.
