
Shri Baldev Prakash has assumed charge as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of SBICAP Securities Limited (SSL), effective June 29, 2026. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine and Business Standard, Prakash joins SSL on deputation from State Bank of India (SBI), bringing over 35 years of experience in banking and financial services to the full-service brokerage and group company. The appointment was announced on Tuesday, marking a significant leadership transition for the SBI Group brokerage.
Prakash's extensive career spans multiple sectors within financial services, including retail and corporate banking, foreign exchange, digital banking, risk management and financial services. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, he previously served as Deputy Managing Director and Group Chief Risk Officer at SBI, overseeing the bank's enterprise-wide risk management framework and liaising with regulators on governance and compliance matters. His international experience includes a treasury and remittance assignment in Muscat, Oman.
Prior to this appointment, Prakash headed Jammu & Kashmir Bank as Managing Director & CEO from December 2021 to December 2024, during which the bank reported improvements in financial performance, governance and operational efficiency. According to The Hindu BusinessLine and Business Standard, he also chaired JKB Financial Services Limited, the bank's wholly owned non-banking subsidiary. His leadership tenure at JKB included significant operational improvements across multiple business metrics, demonstrating his ability to drive organizational transformation.

Prakash holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in History from Kurukshetra University. According to The Hindu BusinessLine, he completed the Executive Leadership Development Programme at Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Advanced Management Programme by the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance with IIM Calcutta, along with diplomas in Treasury, Investment & Risk Management and International Banking & Finance. These qualifications provide him with comprehensive knowledge across multiple financial disciplines.
