Bajaj Finserv highlighted that unrealised mark-to-market (MTM) movements in the equity portfolios of its insurance subsidiaries could cause temporary volatility in reported earnings. According to the company's disclosure, the after-tax unrealised MTM loss was ₹177 crore during Q2 FY27, compared with ₹161 crore a year earlier. Excluding unrealised MTM gains or losses and including realised equity gains booked under other comprehensive income (OCI), consolidated profit attributable to owners stood at ₹2,978 crore, up 22% from ₹2,449 crore in the year-ago quarter. The company's consolidated profit after tax attributable to owners increased 23% to ₹2,758 crore in Q2 FY27, against ₹2,244 crore a year earlier.

The insurance segment showed mixed results across different business lines. The company's combined ratio increased to 104.5% from 102.3%, reflecting higher natural catastrophe claims and loss ratios in the health segment. Bajaj Life Insurance's net profit rose to ₹55 crore from ₹13 crore in the year-ago quarter. The life insurer's gross written premium increased 22.8% to ₹10,277 crore, while value of new business (VNB) grew 39.6% to ₹512 crore. The insurer's profit after tax climbed to ₹55 crore from ₹13 crore in the year-ago quarter. Bajaj Finserv's emerging businesses reported a combined loss of ₹144 crore, which includes Bajaj Finserv Health, Bajaj Finserv Direct, Bajaj Asset Management and Bajaj Alternate Investment Management. This contrasts with the strong performance across the group's core financial services businesses, highlighting the challenges in scaling newer ventures. The contrasting performances of the two insurance businesses also reflected their differing contributions to the group's earnings, with higher new business profitability at Bajaj Life supporting overall performance, while lower profit at Bajaj General weighed on the insurance segment.
