According to latest exchange filings, Bajaj Finance Limited has reported robust growth in its Q2 FY27 business metrics, providing strong justification for its major fundraising initiatives. The company's assets under management (AUM) jumped 26.5% year-on-year to ₹5.85 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026, compared to ₹4.62 lakh crore in the previous financial cycle. The customer franchise expanded to 128.85 million customers from 110.64 million in the previous cycle, with growth of 16% year-on-year and 4% sequentially. The new loans booked rose 11% to 13.45 million compared to 12.17 million a year ago, though the company noted that figures are not directly comparable due to the early onset of the festive season last year. The new loans booked increased 11% YoY to 1.345 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with 1.217 crore in Q2 FY26, with the NBFC adding more than 44 lakh customers during the second quarter of FY27. The total deposits book stood at ₹69,750 crore as of September 30, 2026. This strong performance comes as the company continues its ₹17,500 crore fundraising initiative through a ₹11,700 crore Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) and a ₹5,800 crore warrant issue to parent company Bajaj Finserv Limited, approved by the board on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The market responded positively to the business update, with Bajaj Finance shares surging 3% to ₹974.60 in Monday trading, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine.
Market experts remain bullish on Bajaj Finance following the company's strong Q2 performance and fundraising announcement. Mahesh M Ojha, VP — Research and Business Development, noted that "Bajaj Finance shares gathered an upside momentum after falling for the four successive sessions. However, this is not because of the relief rally on Dalal Street. The Bajaj Group company has announced a ₹17,500 crore fundraising, attracting the attention of stock market bulls. I believe the stock is available at a discount, and bulls are still not content with the rally this stock witnessed on Monday. It has more steam left." Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking, advised shareholders to hold the scrip with strong support placed at ₹930 and a stop-loss at ₹930. He expects the stock to deliver significant upside after giving a technical breakout above ₹1,020 on a closing basis, with fresh investors maintaining the stop-loss at ₹930 for short-term targets of ₹1,020 and ₹1,050. The stock opened higher at ₹962.55 and touched an intraday high of ₹995.80, with the stock showing strong momentum from both fundamental and technical perspectives. The stock has risen by more than 14% in the last six months, demonstrating sustained investor confidence in the company's growth trajectory.
Global brokerage JPMorgan has retained its 'Overweight' rating and raised the price target to ₹1,310 from ₹1,295, representing an upside potential of more than 38% from the previous session's closing price. According to CNBC-TV18, JPMorgan noted that growth appeared broad-based across segments and the strong momentum was expected to sustain over the coming quarters. The brokerage also may upgrade Bajaj Finance's financial year 2027 growth guidance following the business update. This follows Jefferies maintaining its Buy rating and raising the target price to ₹1,280, HSBC maintaining its Buy rating with a target price of ₹1,270, and Citi maintaining its Buy rating with a target price of ₹1,300. The positive outlook is supported by the company's loan growth of 23%, retained ROE of 17%, and leverage at fair levels of 4.9x. For Q1FY27, the company's consolidated Assets Under Management (AUM), Profit after Tax and Net Interest Income grew by 24%, 28% and 23% respectively.
According to reports from Moneycontrol, Bajaj Finance has kickstarted preliminary work on its big-bang capital raise of up to ₹17,500 crore and picked 3 advisors for now, with investment banks Kotak Mahindra Capital, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley mandated as of now. The fund raise, approved by the firm's board on October 2, 2026, is planned via a combination of a qualified institutional placement (QIP) of up to ₹11,700 crore and a preferential issue of warrants for up to ₹5,800 crore. If executed, it would rank among the largest equity raises by an Indian financial services firm in recent times. A second person confirmed that depending on market conditions, the plan as of now is to launch the deal in November, preferably in the second half of the month. A third person added that the proceeds will be used for growth capital, with the company historically raising capital every 2 to 3 years. This marks the first major fundraising effort by the country's largest NBFC since its similar ₹10,000 crore capital raise in November 2023. The last equity fund raise by Bajaj Finance was in 2023, when it raised ₹10,000 crore via a combination of QIP and warrants, prior to which the firm raised ₹8,500 crore via the QIP route in 2019.
