TVS Motor Company has achieved a historic milestone by becoming India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer by total sales volume for June 2026, surpassing long-standing leaders Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. According to Business Standard, the company sold 5.65 lakh units globally, taking the top spot ahead of Hero MotoCorp which sold 5.41 lakh units and Honda which sold 5.28 lakh units. This marks the first time TVS has achieved clear market leadership, with the company leading Hero by 24,000 units and Honda by 37,000 units in total combined volume. As a company source noted, "This is the first time that we have become clear market leaders. Though a similar feat was achieved in December 2025, it is a post-season month when all players reduce their stocks."
The decisive factor in TVS's performance was its exceptional export performance, with international business volume of 1.54 lakh units being 2.9 times the combined export volume of Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. As reported by Business Standard, this reflects TVS's deepening presence across international markets including Africa, Latin America, ASEAN and the Middle East, positioning it as an increasingly globally diversified two-wheeler manufacturer. The company's growth was primarily driven by strong export demand, with exports surging 47% during the month, helping total exports cross the 2.5 lakh-unit mark. This builds on a sustained multi-quarter trend, with TVS posting the fastest volume growth among major original equipment manufacturers through FY26 and steadily narrowing the gap with Hero and Honda.
TVS Motor's June 2026 performance revealed strong growth across all segments, with total two-wheeler sales standing at 565,417 units against 385,698 units in June 2025. According to Business Standard, domestic two-wheeler sales registered 46% growth with 411,014 units compared to 281,012 units in the previous year, while motorcycle sales grew 42% to 267,096 units from 188,774 units. Scooter sales showed exceptional performance with 53% growth to 247,950 units against 162,291 units in June 2025. The company's EV portfolio continues to be solely driven by the iQube, with the company crossing cumulative production of 1 million EVs in early June and reporting monthly sales of 42,459 units in May, up 65% from 25,804 units in the same month of 2025.
TVS Motor has achieved a significant milestone in the electric vehicle segment, with the company completing the rollout of 1 million units of the TVS iQube from its manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This comes almost six years after the electric scooter made its debut in January 2020, with the company reportedly crossing cumulative production of 1 million EVs in early June. TVS Motor leads the electric two-wheeler market with 24% share in June, followed by Bajaj Auto at 22% and Ather Energy at 16%, as reported by CNBC TV18. The company's EV two-wheeler segment showed exceptional growth with sales surging to 48,537 units during the month, while Jefferies estimates show electric vehicle share in two-wheeler segment rose 1.3 percentage points month-over-month to 10.6% in June, crossing the 10% threshold for the first time.
Both companies demonstrated consistent momentum through Q1 FY27, with TVS Motor reporting its highest-ever quarterly sales of 1.63 million units in Q1 FY27. Jefferies maintains buy ratings on Eicher Motors, TVS Motor, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki, with expectations of margin improvement from Q2 due to easing commodity costs. The company's recent ₹4,000 crore share buyback program, which concluded on June 24, 2026, reinforces structural confidence among investors, while improved plant operating capacity from higher export volumes is expected to support stable corporate profit margins over the next fiscal review cycle. TVS Motor has maintained its position as the market leader in the electric vehicle segment, with the company's localized expansion of the Chetak electric scooter network boosting retail conversions and strong performance in premium ICE models including the Pulsar and Triumph partnership lines.
