AvenuesAI Limited has announced plans for a 7% minority equity stake in Online PSB Loans Limited (OPL), operator of India's largest public-sector-backed digital credit platform, as part of its strategy to build an AI-led embedded finance ecosystem. According to stock exchange filings reported by ANI, the company board approved the strategic investment proposal on Friday. Term sheets have been signed and both companies are expected to conclude the deal within this fiscal year, subject to statutory requirements. The investment positions AvenuesAI as the only AI-led platform company within OPL's marquee shareholder consortium, which includes State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, SBI Cards and Payment Services, BOB Capital Markets, Indian Bank, HDFC Bank, TransUnion and other blue-chip financial institutions. As per market experts, this deal would place AvenuesAI into a marquee shareholder consortium and further strengthen the institutional shareholder base of OPL.
As reported by ANI, Vishal Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of AvenuesAI Limited, explained that the proposed investment aligns with the company's 'liability-light' lending strategy. Under this approach, AvenuesAI intends to operate as an AI-driven distribution and orchestration platform while partner NBFCs manage underwriting, capital deployment and lending operations. The partnership with Online PSB Loans will enable AvenuesAI to combine its CCAvenue, Rediff and RediffPay platforms with OPL's lending engine to expand embedded lending opportunities. According to the company, the strategy is designed to combine artificial intelligence capabilities with strong financial institution partnerships to scale digital lending solutions, with the focus on leveraging data, AI infrastructure and digital distribution networks to improve credit access and delivery efficiency, particularly in the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment. Post equity deal, AvenuesAI would bring a differentiated combination of payments infrastructure, enterprise communication frameworks and large digital consumer base as a shareholder, with its merchant ecosystem capable of turbocharging OPL's lending engine while leveraging AvenuesAI's AI capabilities.
Online PSB Loans Limited operates India's largest public-sector-backed digital credit platform with over 235 partner banks and financial institutions, having sanctioned loans worth more than ₹3,97,000 crore and onboarded over 30 lakh MSMEs. As per OPL's website and LinkedIn post, the company has developed 70+ fintech and credit infrastructure products and powers multiple national-scale lending and government-linked financial platforms, including PSB Loans, JanSamarth, GST Sahay, and other digital credit initiatives. The platform's scale and reach create significant opportunities for AvenuesAI to leverage its AI models and merchant network directly into OPL's high-volume lending engine, positioning the company at the intersection of AI frameworks, payments technology and public-sector digital banking. With India's digital lending infrastructure deepening rapidly, the convergence of AI frameworks, payments technology and data as well as public-sector digital banking is creating a new paradigm in credit access for the underserved.
As reported by ANI, under the proposed strategy, AvenuesAI plans to pursue multiple strategic minority investments in scaled and new-age NBFC platforms to build a diversified AI-led embedded finance and digital lending ecosystem. The company also plans to build broader AI-based risk monitoring and credit intelligence frameworks aimed at enabling more customised lending products across its digital ecosystem. According to the company, with this investment, AvenuesAI signals its entry into a broader role in India's evolving digital credit landscape—moving beyond a traditional technology and payments platform to become an enabler of AI-led financial infrastructure partnerships. The focus will be on leveraging data, AI infrastructure and digital distribution networks to improve credit access and delivery efficiency, particularly in the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment.
