Blackstone-backed ASK Investment Managers has announced the acquisition of SageOne Investment Managers, an established asset manager operating across portfolio management services (PMS) and alternative investment funds (AIF). According to The Hindu BusinessLine, the deal is estimated at ₹2,000 crore (approximately $200 million), though neither company disclosed the transaction's financial details. The acquisition will strengthen ASK's equity investment capabilities and provide SageOne access to ASK's global distribution footprint spanning Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The transaction, subject to regulatory and investor approvals, will help ASK strengthen its investment talent, distribution, and global institutional network.
SageOne's founder Samit Vartak will reinvest in ASK and continue in an expanded role as the chief investment officer for equities in the combined asset management business. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, Vartak will reinvest an undisclosed amount in ASK and become chief investment officer (equities) of the combined business. Vartak brings 25 years of investment experience to the merged platform, which will be instrumental in driving the combined entity's growth strategy. Sameer Koticha, founder and chairman of ASK Asset & Wealth Management Group, described Vartak as an exceptional investor whose experience and perspective will be valuable across the platform. The Rainmaker Group acted as the exclusive financial advisor to this transaction.
The merger will create a diversified platform managing more than ₹85,000 crore in assets under management, combining ASK's existing portfolio with SageOne's equity assets. According to The Hindu BusinessLine, SageOne currently manages nearly ₹9,000 crore of equity assets across its PMS and AIF structures, while ASK's asset and wealth management group oversees assets exceeding ₹77,000 crore. The combined entity will bring together a deep pool of investment talent, pan-India distribution, and backed by a global institutional network. Blackstone, the world's largest asset manager, will retain its controlling stake in the new platform.
