Amazon's India marketplace business demonstrated strong momentum in FY26, with revenue rising 17% to ₹35,574 crore compared to ₹30,491 crore in the previous financial year, according to financial data from business intelligence platform Tofler. The company's revenue from operations, which excludes other income, grew 16% to ₹34,967 crore during the year from ₹30,139 crore in FY25. Other income increased significantly to ₹607 crore from ₹353 crore in the previous year.
Despite revenue growth, Amazon Seller Services Private Limited, the entity operating Amazon's marketplace in India, widened its net loss by 4% to ₹390 crore in FY26 from ₹374 crore in the previous financial year. The company's total expenses rose 16% to ₹35,803 crore from ₹30,866 crore a year earlier. Before tax, the loss stood at ₹229 crore compared to ₹374 crore in FY25. The net loss was further impacted by a deferred tax expense of ₹161 crore during the year.
The latest performance reflects Amazon's continued heavy investment in its India operations, including core marketplace operations, fulfilment infrastructure, and newer businesses such as quick commerce. As reported by Tofler, Amazon has been stepping up investments in Amazon Now, its rapid-delivery offering, as competition in India's e-commerce market intensifies. The company plans to expand Amazon Now to hundreds of cities while continuing to strengthen its broader logistics and fulfilment network.
The current results represent a shift from the previous year's performance, when Amazon Seller Services had sharply narrowed its losses in FY25, with net loss falling 89% from ₹3,470 crore in FY24. The company's revenue had risen 19% that year to ₹30,491 crore. Despite the sharp reduction in losses in FY25, the marketplace business has remained loss-making as Amazon continues to spend on customer acquisition, seller services, logistics and infrastructure in the highly competitive Indian e-commerce market.
