Air India has launched non-stop Delhi-Toronto flights from August 1, 2026, marking a significant upgrade to the airline's Canada operations. The airline will remove the technical fuel stop at Vienna after introducing its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the route, cutting westbound journey times by nearly three hours and reducing total travel time to around 17 hours. Eastbound flights from Toronto to Delhi already operate non-stop, while the airline will restore daily services after temporarily reducing frequencies during June and July. The upgraded service brings Air India's newest cabin interiors to Canada for the first time, featuring Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy options, with Premium Economy making its debut on the Delhi–Toronto route.
The Mumbai-Toronto service will be operated by Air India's upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring refurbished cabins with eight First Class suites equipped with privacy doors, 40 fully flat Business Class seats, 280 Economy Class seats and onboard Wi-Fi connectivity. As reported by Aviation India, of the 10x weekly flights the airline operates on the Delhi-Toronto route this Winter, 7x weekly services will be operated by the brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft, featuring the airline's latest cabin products. The remaining 3x weekly services will be initially operated by upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and will transition to the new Boeing 787-9 from January 2027 as more aircraft join the fleet. From January, all Air India flights to and from Toronto will feature either new or comprehensively upgraded cabin interiors.
The new Boeing 787-9 aircraft features 30 Business Class suites with direct aisle access, fully flat beds, wireless charging, personal storage and 17-inch 4K entertainment screens. Premium Economy will feature a dedicated cabin with wider seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, increased legroom, adjustable headrests and 13.3-inch entertainment screens. Across all cabins, the aircraft offers upgraded inflight entertainment powered by the Thales AVANT Up system with more than 3,000 hours of content, Bluetooth audio connectivity, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, AC power outlets and high-definition touchscreens. The onboard experience includes redesigned menus, updated tableware, refreshed amenity kits, mood lighting inspired by Indian wellness traditions and new bedding. Flights on the upgraded aircraft are available for booking through Air India's website, mobile application, customer contact centre and travel agents.
Through Air India's hubs at Mumbai and Delhi, customers travelling to/from Canada can connect seamlessly to destinations including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana, and Vadodara, among several other Indian cities, according to Aviation India. The airline noted that with this expansion, Air India will become the only carrier operating non-stop flights between Mumbai and Toronto during the seasonal service period. The deployment of the new and refurbished aircraft will increase Air India's premium seat capacity on Toronto services by 71%, offering passengers more First Class, Business Class and Premium Economy options across all routes.

As reported by ETTravelWorld, he said the launch of the Mumbai-Toronto service and the introduction of the airline's newest aircraft on North American routes reflect Air India's strategy to offer a world-class travel experience and strengthen its position in one of the world's most competitive long-haul markets. The airline has also inducted its third retrofitted Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner into service, marking the latest addition to its fleet modernization program.
