
Aditya Birla Capital shares surged 2.6% to ₹407.05 following the company's announcement of entering the gold loan business. According to Business Standard, the stock demonstrated strong momentum with gains of over 43% in the past twelve months and over 12.5% on a year-to-date basis in 2026. The shares opened at ₹399 apiece on the NSE and reached an intraday high of ₹408.7 apiece.
As reported by Business Standard, the NBFC business announced its entry into the Gold Loan business, marking a strategic expansion of its secured lending portfolio. The company stated that the Gold Loan offering complements its existing retail and MSME lending franchise, providing customers with a transparent, flexible and collateral-backed credit solution. The entry represents a natural extension of the company's secured lending strategy in a category where trust is paramount.
According to Business Standard, Aditya Birla Capital planned a phased rollout of 200-300 dedicated gold loan branches by March 2027 across high-potential markets. The company further plans to expand this network to 1000 branches in the coming three years. The offering will cater to various customers across urban and semi-urban markets, serving existing customers within the Aditya Birla Capital ecosystem and expanding reach to new customers through an integrated distribution network of physical branches and digital platforms.
As reported by Business Standard, the company's financial performance showed robust growth in Q1FY27. Consolidated net profit jumped 40.07% to ₹1,174.70 crore on a 28.17% rise in revenue to ₹12,179.54 crore compared with Q1 FY26. At the consolidated level, revenue surged 29% YoY to ₹14,731 crore compared to ₹10,274 crore in the same period last year. Profit after tax improved from ₹759 crore in Q1FY26 to ₹1,175 crore in the current quarter.

Singh noted that in a category where trust is paramount, customers seek transparency, secure handling of their gold, and the confidence that their valuable assets are in safe and trusted hands.
