Action Construction Equipment (ACE) and Japan's KATO Works Co. Ltd have officially finalized their ₹200 crore investment in a joint venture to establish crane manufacturing capabilities in India. The partnership has launched ACE KATO Private Limited, a 50:50 joint venture between the two companies, with the facility located in Haryana. The investment supports manufacturing infrastructure, advanced production systems, technology integration and product development with additional investments planned in phases to expand capacity. As per Business Standard, the facility will manufacture high-capacity cranes for both domestic and global infrastructure markets.
The joint venture has established an 11-acre manufacturing facility in Haryana with the planned investment of approximately ₹200 crore. The facility will manufacture a comprehensive range of cranes including truck cranes, crawler cranes and rough-terrain cranes for immediate demands across mining, transport, port, and industrial sectors. The partnership combines ACE's manufacturing expertise and strong domestic presence with KATO's global technology and engineering capabilities to strengthen India's position as a hub for advanced crane manufacturing and exports. The facility will initially focus on heavy-duty truck, crawler, and rough terrain crane configurations before subsequent expansion phases introduce broader machinery portfolios.
Sorab Agarwal, Executive Director of ACE, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership, stating that by partnering with KATO, they are combining globally proven Japanese technology with India's manufacturing strengths to create a world-class platform for high-capacity crane manufacturing. Under the partnership structure, KATO will lead product engineering, design and technology, while ACE will be responsible for manufacturing, sourcing and localisation. The product roadmap will initially focus on the development and manufacturing of Truck, Crawler and Rough Terrain Cranes, followed by the phased introduction of more crane models. The partnership aims to build a globally competitive manufacturing platform capable of delivering high-quality, cost-competitive lifting solutions for customers in India and international markets.
Action Construction Equipment Ltd is positioned as among India's leading material handling and construction equipment manufacturing companies, with a presence in over 42 countries. The partnership between the homegrown Indian entity and the Tokyo-headquartered KATO Works represents a significant step in enhancing India's role in the global construction equipment value chain while supporting the next phase of infrastructure development. The joint venture will focus on the progressive localisation of components through ACE's established supplier ecosystem, with increased local sourcing expected to enhance manufacturing efficiency, optimise production costs, improve supply-chain resilience and reduce lead times while maintaining quality standards.
