State Bank of India has announced a revision in cash withdrawal charges for Basic Savings Deposit Account holders, effective October 1, 2026. According to reports from Zee News, the new rules will apply to customers from this date. Under the revised structure, customers will receive free services for the first four cash withdrawals, after which SBI will levy charges of ₹15 plus GST for each transaction. This represents a change from the existing fee structure for basic savings account holders. As per Financial Express, the new charges apply to cash withdrawal transactions made through various channels including branches, ATMs, micro-ATMs, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) and CASH@POS.
SBI has significantly reduced the free ATM transaction limit for salary account holders, cutting it from 10 to 5 free transactions per month at other banks' ATMs and Automated Deposit cum Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs). As reported by Zee News, the revised limit applies to both financial and non-financial transactions at other banks' ATMs and ADWMs. After the free limit is exhausted, customers will continue to pay ₹23 + GST for cash withdrawals and ₹11 + GST for non-financial transactions. The charges have been in force since December 1, 2025, and the revised limit does not affect the existing monthly free transaction limit for customers using SBI ATMs and ADWMs. According to SBI's official statement, the number of monthly free transactions and applicable service charges for accounts other than Salary Package Accounts shall remain unchanged.
As reported by Zee News, SBI had previously announced revision in ATM/ADWM transaction service charges with effect from December 1, 2025. The revised charges show an increase from ₹21 + GST to ₹23 + GST for cash withdrawals after free monthly transactions. Similarly, non-financial transaction charges have been increased from ₹10 + GST to ₹11 + GST. For Salary Package Savings Bank Accounts, the number of free monthly transactions has been reduced from unlimited to 10 free transactions at all centers. Digital fund transfers initiated by customers through UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS and POS continue to remain free, according to SBI.
According to the notification from SBI, Current Account holders will continue to receive NIL charges for cash withdrawals at all centers, with no change in the existing structure. The bank has also waived IMPS transaction charges for specific account categories, including Salary Package accounts (DSP, PMSP, ICGSP, CGSP, PSP and RSP), Shaurya Family Pension Accounts, and Family Savings Account-SBI RISHTEY. These waivers apply to both personal and business segment current accounts. Additionally, SBI debit card users will continue to get 10 free transactions a month at SBI ATMs and ADWMs, including both financial and non-financial transactions. As per Financial Express, the existing ATM number of monthly free transactions and related service charges for debit card users utilising SBI ATMs / ADWMs will stay unchanged, implying that customers using SBI ATMs would get 10 free transactions per month, including both financial and non-financial transactions.
