
Muthoot MCred Ltd announced its partnership with South Indian Bank (SIB) on Friday to launch home loan offerings, marking the company's entry into the housing finance segment. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, the partnership enables SIB's Affordable Housing Loans to be made available through select Muthoot MCred branches across various locations, allowing eligible customers to access home financing solutions closer to where they live.
The partnership combines South Indian Bank's expertise in housing finance with Muthoot MCred's extensive customer reach and branch network. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, the collaboration aims to make homeownership more accessible, convenient and affordable for aspiring homeowners by leveraging both institutions' complementary strengths in the housing finance sector. The partnership agreement was exchanged by Mathew Muthoottu, Managing Director, Muthoot MCred Ltd and P R Seshadri, Managing Director & CEO, SIB, in the presence of PE Mathai, Chief Executive Officer of Muthoot MCred, Anto George T, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of South Indian Bank, and Minu Moonjely, Chief General Manager and Head – Corporate Business Group, South Indian Bank.
Mathew Muthoottu emphasized that homeownership was one of the most important financial milestones in an individual's life, stating that the partnership with South Indian Bank represented a step forward, allowing the company to expand into housing finance. The partnership aligns with the Government of India's vision of promoting affordable housing and supports flagship programmes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing. According to the press release, both institutions aim to enable wider access to affordable home loans while creating long-term value for customers and contributing to inclusive economic growth. This initiative supports the Centre's objective to ensure banking services reach every village and facilitate easier access for small entrepreneurs to institutional credit.
