
According to reports from The Economic Times and latest financial data, Jammu and Kashmir Bank announced its financial results for the third quarter, with net profit rising 18.7% quarter-on-quarter and 10.4% year-on-year to ₹587 crore, compared with ₹532 crore recorded during the same period last fiscal. The bank's Board of Directors approved the numbers during a meeting held at the bank's Divisional Office in Jammu. MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee stated that despite rate cuts and challenging conditions such as the Pahalgam attack and floods that disrupted the local economy, the bank remained firmly on track to deliver record profits for the fourth consecutive year.
As reported by The Economic Times, the bank's net profit for the first nine months of financial year 2025-26 grew 4.5% year-on-year to ₹1,565.68 crore, compared with ₹1,497.92 crore recorded during the same period last year. Chatterjee noted that despite rate cuts, impairment provisioning for Grameen Bank and challenging conditions, particularly the events of April 22, the Pahalgam attack, their subsequent impact, and the floods that disrupted the local economy, the bank remains firmly positioned for record profits.
According to latest financial data and The Economic Times, the bank's net interest income came at ₹1,489 crore, showing a marginal decline of 1.3% year-on-year from ₹1,509 crore in the same quarter last year, while growing from ₹1,434 crore quarter-on-quarter. The non-interest income surged to ₹279.5 crore compared to ₹242.3 crore year-on-year, representing significant growth in fee-based income. The bank's profit before provisions (PBP) increased 4.3% year-on-year to ₹780 crore from ₹748 crore, while provisions showed a reversal at ₹-25.8 crore compared to ₹-9.8 crore last year. The return on assets improved to 1.4% from 1.2% in the previous quarter and 1.3% year-on-year.
As reported by The Economic Times and confirmed by latest data, the bank demonstrated continued improvement in asset quality metrics. The gross NPA ratio declined year-on-year to 3.00%, down 108 basis points from 4.08%, with gross NPAs standing at ₹3,487.1 crore compared to ₹3,585.3 crore in the previous quarter. Net NPA reduced by 26 basis points year-on-year to 0.68% from 0.94% and by 8 basis points quarter-on-quarter from 0.76%, with net NPAs at ₹776.4 crore versus ₹795.9 crore quarter-on-quarter. The provision coverage ratio for the quarter stood above 90% at 90.46%. Chatterjee emphasized that even as their core geography has navigated significant challenges extending beyond the banking sector, the bank's asset quality has continued to improve steadily.
According to The Economic Times and latest financial updates, the bank recorded exceptional year-on-year growth of 18% in gross advances to ₹1,13,537 crore, with strong quarter-on-quarter growth of 8%, while maintaining healthy year-on-year growth of 10.6% in deposits. As of December 31, 2025, the bank's total deposits reached ₹1,55,861 crore. Chatterjee stated that the accelerated advances growth was driven by focused expansion in retail, MSME, agriculture and select corporate portfolios, supported by improved credit appetite and strengthened customer engagement across both core and emerging geographies. He added that their consistent focus on deepening relationships within Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and beyond, improving product penetration and enhancing service delivery continues to support stable balance sheet expansion.
